This is a sample writing activity from the Community Helpers Unit.
Common Core Standards:
K.W – 2. Use a combination of drawing, dictation, and writing to compose informative/explanatory texts in which they name what they are writing about and supply some information about the topic.
First, read a non-fiction book about a community helper. Then complete the T-Chart together as a class. Then students will complete the graphic organizer as a whole class or during small group time. Students will use their graphic organizers to write a paragraph about each community helper.
