If you're looking for a hands on approach to teaching functional reading skills in your special education classroom, Reading in Real Life is the program for you! RIRL is a functional, sight based reading program that uses evidence based instructional practices to teach students words that they see in everyday life. Once students master the included words, they can practice reading the words in a variety of different activities through the supplemental activities included in this bundle. This unit includes everything you need to teach your students to read community signs. It includes an Effective Teaching Cycle, data sheets and student graphing sheet, flashcards, worksheets, independent work tasks, file folder activities, a digital assessment, and an 8 page mini book for each sign. There is also an interactive find it game and bingo game included.

Students will read the prompt, look at the picture and answer the yes or no question "Is this a ___ sign?" There are 50 task cards total.
This set of adapted books is an expansion from the unit mini books. Each book focuses on one sign, teaching about it's meaning, where it can be found, and what we should do when we see it. There are two levels per book- one identical matching and one errorless. This is a great hands on activity to build reading comprehension.
Use these additional worksheets to supplement for students who need additional practice or for maintaining mastered words. This resource includes 2 worksheets per sign and 38 review worksheets. Students will learn to identify the sign, tell what the sign means, and tell where the sign is located. Generalization is built in with a variety of pictures for each sign.
This set of 10 matching tasks is perfect for independent work for students with Autism or in special education. There are errorless, identical and non-identical matching tasks included in this set. You can prep these for binder work or file folders. Cut, laminate, velcro & use over and over again!
