In order for students to evaluate expressions using the commutative, associative, and distributive properties of addtion and multiplication, they first have to identify these properties.
In this simple sorting activity, students cut out 18 sorting cards. These cards contain examples of the commutative, associative, and distributive properties. Students must sort the cards into the correct "property" (yard).
This sorting activity is a quick, fun way to help students estalish the basic skills they need before take on more complex algebraic tasks.
