Your first and second graders will enjoy this cut and paste Thanksgiving activity. Students first do the addition problems. Ten featherless turkeys are waiting for someone to read the number on their belly and match the answers on the feathers with the problems that add up to that same number. Turkey number 1 will have two feathers because 0+1 and 1+0 = 1 , turkey number two will have 0+2, 2+0 and 1+1 and so on through 10. The turkey bellies and corresponding facts are color coordinated to make self-checking easy. Suggestions are included for use as a math center or a game Extend the learning and use the enclosed book cover and fill in the blank page as a writing assignment. The fill in the blank page reads," Each of the feathers on this turkey adds up to ____." Students glue one turkey, with its appropriate feathers to the page. Students end up with a fun seasonal math review. Do one or two together and the rest as center work, one a day until Thanksgiving.
