These strips provide strong visual support and are perfectly sized for small group use; during RTI; with ESL/ELD learners; students who receive speech therapy, math tutoring, or RSP services; and reluctant or slow learners.

How They Work: Flip the Fact Addition Strips can be utilized in a variety of settings: whole class, during centers/stations/workshop, within a small group, or working with students one-on-one. Every strip has been formatted with two addition sentences (number sentences)--all enlarged and easy for your Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade kiddos to see and understand. Additionally, the strips can be hole-punched, ringed, and hung in areas where wall space is minimal.

Gentle Suggestions/Tips/Reminders:
*INK SAVER ALERT! But for a few nonessential pages, this product has been created using black, white, and gray ink.
*For your convenience, all strips have been formatted with large, easy-to-read number sentences. This makes it easier for students to see and read the strips should you choose to post them in a prominent place, such as a whiteboard, on a classroom door or wall.
*ALL strips have been typed and formatted to fit four-to-a-page. This makes for easier copying and sorting should you want to use the strips during small group instruction or RTI. REMINDER: This product does involve SOME PREPARATION--print, copy, and laminate on colored cardstock or bright colored paper, hole punch, ring, and hang--you’re good to go!
*REMINDER: Commutative Property and Identity Property practice printables have been included as one way of helping your kiddos keep a “running list” of their learned addition facts. :)
*This product is perfect for use with ELD/ESL/EFL students; students who receive speech therapy services; RSP (Resource Specialist Program) students; or students who just need a little more practice with their math fluency or addition facts.
*Small group essentials such as flashcards and practice printables are also included to help make the running of your math fluency small groups a breeze!

Happy flipping those addition facts! :)

Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Represent addition and subtraction with objects, fingers, mental images, drawings, sounds (e.g., claps), acting out situations, verbal explanations, expressions, or equations.
Compose and decompose numbers from 11 to 19 into ten ones and some further ones, e.g., by using objects or drawings, and record each composition or decomposition by a drawing or equation (e.g., 18 = 10 + 8); understand that these numbers are composed of ten ones and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine ones.
