This activity includes:
1) This "Comparative Advantage and Trade" Activity includes 4 parts. It begins with a graphic organizer that asks your students to define absolute and comparative advantage, and explain how trade enhances output and utility for trading countries worldwide. Next, students will have a chance to put principles into practice by calculating absolute advantage using several trade schedules provided . Next, students will have an opportunity to prove their comprehension by calculating comparative advantage using 5 different output and input trade schedules. Finally, students will use their knowledge to analyze 2 trade graphs and find absolute and comparative advantage, and decide whether the two nations should engage in mutually beneficial trade.
This activity can be used in many different ways in the classroom. Students can work independently, in pairs or this activity can be used as a jigsaw in order to facilitate a class wide discussion about the topics discussed in the activity.
