Looking for a fun way for your students to practice adding, subtracting and comparing fractions with unlike denominators? Check out these 5 activity sheets relating to people and how they spend their time throughout the day. On each sheet, there is a person and a schedule of how they spend their day (various fractions with different denominators). There are 3 word problems/questions on each sheet that require students to either compare, add and subtract fractions, or a mixture of the previously listed skills. The last two sheets have higher level thinking comparing questions.
Answer keys are provided for student self-check or teacher quick check. This document can be used for whole group lessons, small group centers, intervention, homework or even as an assessment tool. I use these for small group lessons and homework with my fifth grade special education students.
