Nonfiction Article of the Week Club, Article #6-18: Frederick Douglass
Teach reading informational text standard RI.6.9, Compare and Contrast Multiple Authors' Presentation of Events, with this article about Frederick Douglass. I've also included a paired text excerpt from the autobiography Narrative in the Life of Frederick Douglass that students will use to compare and contrast multiple authors' presentation of events. This is the perfect opportunity for your students to practice comparing a biography with an autobiography or memoir. Students will also complete activities for text evidence, integrating information, literal comprehension, and take a comprehensive assessment.
