An H-Map is used to compare and contrast 2 topics or texts. I like to use the H-Map in lieu of a venn diagram because my kiddos have trouble writing in those awkward spaces. It is called an H-Map because it resembles an "H".
I've included 2 versions of the graphic organizer- one with open spaces and the other with lines and a bit more description. Both include a title line and and I-Can statement. There is space to write their topics or texts. It is open-ended to be used at any grade level, any subject, and with your specific expectations (words, phrases, or complete sentences.)
I do like my students to be familiar with a traditional venn diagram so that they know what it is used for and so that they are able to read one in a text or on a test. I just find this organizer easy for writing.
