As a wrap up lesson, we collected empty wrappers from home and around the school to compare nutrition facts. We cut out the labels and kept it in a box. Doing the activity helped the students with learning to pick up from the floor and to be aware of any trash that was not thrown out. It was a double whammy of a lesson. After we collected and cut the labels, we compared the nutrition facts of two chosen labels. Once completed, we shared aloud which one we prefer based on the healthier option. The activity is very interactive and hands-on. To see the student’s reaction to the everyday items we eat and how we are not aware of the serving sizes were astounding! My students enjoyed the activity! I included the original template I used and a blank template.
