This mini lesson gives students an introduction into comparing and contrasting in fictional texts. They learn the definitions and are given examples of each. Then, as a class (or small group), there are excerpts to read. The first is from Lewis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass and the second if from Helen Crosswell's Moondial. Together, or independently if you choose, students complete a Venn Diagram. There are also guiding questions for those who struggle with getting started.
