Help your students review and practice key reading comprehension skills. This unit is designed to give students some supplemental practice with comparing and contrasting important facts in a non-fiction text.
This unit is designed to supplement your regular classroom curriculum. It begins by helping students practice identifying which facts are important in a text. Additional practice is provided to help them compare and contrast the important facts in 2 texts on the same or similar topic.
I usually allow around 30 minutes for this practice. The texts are short and students can mark the texts as they identify key facts. There are graphic organizers, matching exercises and questions provided for practice.
The unit is built on Common Core Standards for 2nd grade. However, some of the lessons begin work on 3rd grade requirements.
I have additional units on compare and contrast in my store.
