Do you need an engaging, compare and contrast passage questions for your next lesson?

Rap music is your solution!

Based on a rap song about jazz musicians, this activity will keep your students' attention using song lyrics as a reading passage while they practice compare and contrast skills. Easily incorporate them into independent activities or complete them together as a class lesson. The song for this activity explores the careers of Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, and Herbie Hancock, highlighting significant facts in each musician's career.

Students will practice compare and contrast skills, finding similarities between the musicians using the song lyrics as a reading passage. Additional reading activities include multiple-choice comprehension questions, a timeline activity, and synonyms/antonyms multiple-choice questions based on the song lyrics. More activities are listed below.

- The answer keys are located on pages 13 - 16.
