This compare and contrast packet is aligned with the common core standards. I made this because we use Wonders and I felt the kids needed more practice with this skill. It starts out explaining the skill, what it is, and offers some practice. Student will have the chance to do some turn and talk activities. They will discuss comparing plot, setting, and characters. They will read two fables and compare the characters in an open ended response, which is quite often asked of them. They will practice identifying a cause and effect text. There are several Venn diagrams and book suggestions for you to use to teach the skill. This packet, you will have to print and assemble. There are about 15 pages in all. I think this really walks the student and the teacher through how it relates to reading. I hope they enjoy these activities as much as my class did.
