Compare and Contrast response paragraph writing with QR codes!

Scaffolded transitional phrases and sentence starters will guide students as they construct a 6 sentence compare and contrast paragraph with a topic sentence, sentence telling similarities and differences, 2 pieces of evidence from the text to support their thinking, and a conclusion sentence. Since students’ dice rolls will vary each time, this packet can be reused all year to help students respond to their reading.

This purchases includes everything your students need to construct a 6 sentence paragraph comparing and contrasting two books, characters, or events:
★ 1 clear student direction page and materials list
★ 6 QR Roll, Scan, & Write Sheets - one for each sentence of the paragraph
★ 6 QR transitional phrases, sentence starters, and prompts embedded into the sheets to guide students’ writing
★ Rubrics for grades 2-5 with grade level Common Core standards plus a more general rubric for homeschool, special education, and classroom teachers looking to differentiate without students knowing the grade level.

Print out the pages that you need and distribute to your students or leave in an iPad® mobile digital device center. Activities work with any books students have read. Teachers can set more specific parameters of the assignment if desired. I suggest using this after a lesson on comparing and contrasting.

You will need a device with a QR reader / scanner.

This packet has been aligned with the CCSS for 2nd-5th grades.

I suggest pairing this activity with my Venn Diagram App unwrAPPed packs - available as individual grades or a bundle:
