Increase student achievement by teaching vocabulary!
This collection of compare and contrast words will equip your students with the language of comparing and contrasting. These are the words they need in order to turn their Venn Diagrams into paragraphs. These are the words they need to recognize in order to understand that they are being asked to compare and contrast. These are the words that will clue them into the fact that the text structure is comparing and contrasting. When teaching compare and contrast, do not neglect to teach your students the vocabulary that goes with this skill.
Each 8 1/2 x 11 poster includes the word, a student-friendly meaning, an image, and an example sentence. (For academic vocabulary such as these words, students grasp the meaning of the word by hearing an example sentence.)
