Compare and Contrast Writing / Informational Writing and Research / Football vs. Soccer
With this engaging project, students will learn about football and soccer, write informational papers about the sports, compare and contrast the sports, and write a compare and contrast paper.
The project could be implemented in several ways:
-For younger students, it could be a whole class shared/guided reading and writing project.
-Older students could conduct their own research with books and online resources, possibly in a reading/writing center.
-One sport could be a whole-class guided research writing project, the other could be independent. Then the class could compare and contrast both.
-Half of the class could research and write about football while the other half learns about soccer. Students could partner up to share their research and work together to write the compare and contrast paper.
