This is a 4 page Comparison / Contrast Worksheet titled "Ducks and Geese." The first page is 6 paragraphs of information comparing the two animals. It also has two colorful pictures of a Mallard Duck and a Canada Goose. The second page has 18 questions about the two animals. The first 5 are fill-in the blanks with words or sentences. The next 13 are questions that students need to label as duck, goose, or both. Vocabulary words include waterfowl and migration. Reading comprehension skills are locating details, drawing conclusions, identifying causes and effects, and of course comparing and contrasting. The third page is a Venn diagram that you can have your students do before writing about the two animals. This worksheet can serve as an effective reading activity in which students determine answers to 18 questions and/or a prewrite for the writing genre of compare/contrast. It could also be considered as Teaching Reading in the area of Science. The fourth page is the answer key. The worksheet is one that you can easily print off and is easy to edit if you need to. I think both you and your students will like it!
