As a review for the upcoming STAAR test, I created this activity/assessment for my students.
The assignment correlates with Texas TEK:
3.3H Compare two fractions having the same numerator or denominator in problems by reasoning about their sizes
and justifying the conclusion using symbols, words, objects, and pictorial models
In this activity, students will represent two given fractions using a pictorial model, compare their relative sizes using <,> or = and then provide a verbal description. I have also included 4 word problems to follow the skill.
