This is a fun little fraction activity, inspired by “The Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle. Your students will create their own creature that eats fractions from smaller to larger. Then create a little accordion book that they can read and share with others in the class. I also include internet links/QR codes to related resources, such as butterfly videos, fraction games, and to Eric Carle reading his book.
How can I use this product?
I included directions that are self-guided, so it can be set up as a math center as well as a whole class activity and small group.
The QR codes are on 3 x 5 index cards, so you can have them available for your early finishers.
There are three levels on instructions: create a book from scratch, choose from 2 templates, or color one all ready to go. You will need scissors, glue, and color pencils.
What is included?
21 Pages (3 pages of cover, copyright info, and notes)
