This is an EXCELLENT way to get your kids comparing fractions and having fun at the same time! Partners take turns flipping over two playing cards. They make them into a fractions and draw representations to determine which is greater.
There are 3 versions. Version 1: Students compare proper fractions and draw representations to see which student has a greater fraction. Version 2: Same as Version 1, but students plot both fractions on a number line. Version 3: Students make improper fractions (by making the larger card their numerator instead of denominator).
This is easily adaptable to playing with dice as well!
