This resource helps students compare multiple texts as stated in the Common Core Standards for multiple grade levels. Students needing help thinking of elements to compare across texts refer to these bookmarks for ideas and suggestions.
I created this resource when my students were having trouble comparing and contrasting passages. They would only compare basic elements (like hair color and setting), but I wanted them to think more deeply and work at a higher level of Blooms Taxonomy. These bookmarks took almost no time to introduce and have helped the students meet the high standards I had.
Key words are in bold to let students know they can find the definitions for those words on the back of the bookmark. (These definitions are in alphabetical order, but the words appear in the same color as the front of the bookmark for easy reference.) This made my students more self sufficient by preventing the "What does this word mean?" questions, and helped them learn the new vocabulary quickly!
Print front and back on paper or card stock. Laminate if you'd like to have students use dry erase marker to check off the elements they compare/contrast. Color and black and white printing copies are provided. If you plan to use black and white versions, you may even want to print them on colored paper to make the reference really pop! :)
2 color pages (Front of bookmark with text elements to compare & contrast. Back of bookmark with definitions of key vocabulary used when comparing and contrasting multiple texts.)
2 black and white versions of the pages above.
