Description
This is a work mat that you can print out, laminate all the pieces separately, and add a movable symbol (greater than, less than, or equal to) in the center for students to manipulate! All you need is 2 brads per work mat.
Once laminated, use base ten manipulatives, number cards, dot cards, dominoes, dice, anything you have on hand to compare the quantity of two numbers or representations of numbers! No more of "the alligator eats the bigger number." From now on, "the symbol opens to the greater quantity." Let's teach them the proper mathematical terminology!
Students can use dry erase markers, and the included "Word Form of Numbers" page to write the word form of their number and circle "is greater than," "is less than," or "is equal to" as appropriate.
Thanks so much and have fun!! :)
