This quiz tests students' knowledge of the differences among prose, poetry, and drama. The prose selection is taken from the Natalie Babbitt novel, TUCK EVERLASTING, and the drama and poetry selections are adaptations of the same text. Since I've used this without permission, it's a free resource.
The quiz addresses fourth-grade Common Core concepts such as context, stage directions, point of view, setting, narration, cast of characters, dialogue, figurative language, mood, verse, and rhythm.
I've found comparing prose, drama, and poetry to be a somewhat difficult concept to teach since few resources exist that draw on passages all taken from one common resource. I hope you'll find this quiz helpful to either assess or instruct your students.
