This product is designed to help students determine the advantages and disadvantages of using histograms, dotplots, and stem-and-leaf plots for quantitative data. They create each type of display for the ages of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, allowing them to practice both creating and analyzing the displays in a cross-curricular context.
Students are given a list of data and asked to create a dotplot, stem-and-leaf plot, frequency table, and histogram of the data. They answer questions about the data itself and the different types of displays. They are asked to compare and contrast the types of displays and to determine advantages and disadvantages of each.
