Cross-disciplinary research/web based assignment to be completed by students who are familiar with To Kill A Mockingbird. Students will compare main events and ideas in the novel to real life historical events surrounding the arrest of the Scottsboro Boys, nine black teenagers that were accused of raping two white women on a train in 1931. Students will work through a chart to compare the fictional and real life events, and then move through discussion questions. Discussion questions could be completed in a small group/whole class discussion as well. Students will need internet access.
