This is a great unit to accompany the Horton lesson. It analyzes the two stories using a compare and contrast diagram. This offers an opportunity to review the story elements and think through how the two stories are similar and how they differ. This activity also offers a bonus vocabulary review game, spinner style. It can either be printed, laminated, and used as a spinner in small group activities or displayed on a smartboard by allowing the students to interact with the game board by picking a colored star and defining the target word (then demonstrate understanding by using it correctly in a sentence). My students love this activity and I hope yours will too!
