Student Page #1
Students are given student page #1 which has 6 rectangular prisms with dimensions. Students calculate and record the volume of each prism.
Students then cut out each of the six cards and place them in order from least to greatest onto student page #2.
Student page #2
Students are asked to find the total volume of the prisms.
There are several other extension questions for students.
This activity may be used in several different ways. One of the best ways to use this activity is in pairs. Many students struggle with visualizing these three components.
Students are able to assist one another with identifying length, width and height on each rectangular prism.
