Students will use the Internet to conduct a webquest that aims to compare/contrast the Articles of Confederation to the United States Constitution.
This assignment will have students discover/analyze what worked with the Articles of Confederation and what made it weak, which will pave the way for them to begin analyzing the Constitution and what it aimed to keep/fix. The assignment ends by doing a direct comparison of the two documents in a chart with various issues each document wanted to address (i.e. taxes, legislative branch, adding of an executive and judicial branch to the Constitution, etc).
This assignment illustrates the similarities/differences between these two documents and solidifies it in the minds of my students better than I could by simply telling them about it.
