The purpose of this interactive notebook product is to enhance your curriculum when teaching students to compare and contrast the function of organs and other physical structures of plants and animals, including humans. (Florida NGSSS Science Standard: SC.5.L.14.2: Compare and contrast the function of organs and other physical structures of plants and animals, including humans, for example: some animals have skeletons for support -- some with internal skeletons others with exoskeletons -- while some plants have stems for support.)
This product allows students to view the different ways plants, animals, and humans perform the same functions, but in different ways. You can also use this product to lead in to different adaptations of animals. Some examples of animal adaptations are briefly mentioned.
The interactive notebook requires students to group similar functions of plants, humans and animals together. Each function section also contains an area where students can write additional notes on the topic. There are three culminating questions that are included that will have students demonstrate their knowledge with this topic.
