I have been blessed (or cursed, depending on whom you ask) with a creative mind when coming up with fun and interesting writing prompts for my students over the years. I love thinking up a silly idea and seeing the students react and work with it. This resource has 70+ ideas ready to go in a PowerPoint format for easy integration into your classroom.
Uses for this product include:
- Writers notebooks
- Writing lessons
- RTI groups
and lots more!
This resource is aligned with Common Core standards for Grades 3, 4, and 5, but can be modified and used with Grades 3+. Each slide is numbered so you can keep track of which prompts you use. There is a wide variety of prompts: what-ifs, finish the thoughts, and brain stretchers. These are student-approved and ready to use!
How to use:
I usually project the PowerPoint slide I want to use onto my screen so all students can see. With small groups, I print off a copy of selected prompts to give students a choice in their writing topic. You can also print to a smaller scale, laminate, and put onto a ring for quick selection!
I will be updating these prompts as I (and my students) come up with new ideas, so check back periodically for a new download.
I would love to hear your feedback and ideas!
