Middle school students often burst into the classroom demanding your attention to their grade (especially if posted in an online system.) It is distracting at best, and draws educational time permitting peers to talk. This relatively simple system worked really well in my 6th and 7th grade classes last year. My binder was organized by class. I have included a sample page that can be reviewed with students.Clarity of student information is key. Students date their entry, and I respond on the date I resolve the issue. The goal of encouraging students (and not their parents to come to teachers with grade issues is a secondary goal that I share with parents at back to school night. It is a win-win-win!!
