PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

I titled this book The Complete Book of Figurative Language because it truly is a complete resource. It contains teacher-created and school- tested resources that include over 55 ready-to-use printables and several activities for groups or whole-class. Also included is a complete game that can be used over and over to reinforce the types of figurative language and how they can be translated literally.
Most of the handouts can be adapted for use in a notebook and over 25 include a writing component. Students are not only asked to identify examples of figurative language, but they are also challenged to differentiate between types of figurative language and to interpret them literally. Handout lesson formats vary to keep student interest and encourage engagement.
Formats include: short answer, paraphrasing, highlighting activities, multiple choice, matching, and creating examples. Most handouts have 10 questions or problems per page.

Designed for use in grades 6-8, but would be appropriate for challenging 3rd - 5th grade.
