Product Description
There's nothing quite as nerve-wracking and exciting as being asked to teach a sample lesson as one of the final steps of the interview process! As we're sure you know, it's important to put your best foot forward. While this can be intimidating, this complete sample lesson plan on figurative language was created to make this process as easy for you as possible. In fact, we've used this lesson, ourselves, when interviewing for a teaching position (and we were both offered the job!). This lesson works great for grades 5-8.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THIS SAMPLE LESSON:
- Figurative Language Sample Lesson Plan:
We've included a complete lesson for you that includes an overview of the lesson, objectives, materials needed, and a step-by-step process of how the lesson will go (including suggested time frames). We've made this portion of the resource EDITABLE in case you want to make any changes for your specific needs.
- Figurative Language Brochure: This brochure includes 6 figurative language devices you will review with students - metaphor, simile, personification, hyperbole, alliteration, and idiom. The brochure also includes a short poem with vocabulary terms and definitions that students will use to demonstrate their understanding of the devices. Please see pictures in preview to see what the brochure looks like. (**Please Note: If you own our Poetry Research Unit , this brochure is a part of that resource!**)
- Figurative Language Exit Slips: As a part of a sample lesson, it's always important to include some sort of informal assessment at the end. Use these exit slips to do just that!
- Editable Student Name tags: These cute, surf-themed name tags are editable, so you can add the names of the students you will be teaching your sample lesson to. When we made these, we brought in a few extra, blank ones in case there was a student name that we weren't given - it's always better to be over prepared!

We hope this lesson plan eases any nerves you might have about your sample lesson! Congrats on making it this far in the interview process, and we wish you the best of luck!
