This is one of my favorite resources and review activities! The response includes a review of the following story elements: plot, conflict, characters, theme, point of view, tone and mood, and objective summary.
Each section reviews the fundamentals of story elements. Students must complete a plot diagram, identify and categorize conflict, classify types of characters (static, dynamic, etc.), identify and explain a key theme, explain point of view and compare/contrast character vs. reader point of view, identify and explain tone and mood, and write an objective summary.
I like to use this resource at the end of a short story, novel, or even pair with a short film for students to practice all the elements in a single class period.
