Social Studies curriculum changes topic, sometimes drastically, from year to year. These fun and engaging lessons are designed to be used regularly throughout the whole school year to reinforce learning! The unit is designed around a 5E model to help make lesson planning easy and includes tons of lessons meant to be used from August-June!

1. ENGAGE: PEGS Preview Sorting Activity
A hands-on, cooperative learning activity to get your students engaged in your lesson! This is an introduction activity to encourage students to really think about the topic. It is intended as a way to introduce the four vocabulary words. Each group gets a bag of 40 images and must complete a sorting activity. Your class will have fun and be challenged as they work together to analyze images, debate possible groupings, and create unique titles for each category they have created. Students enjoy working together in groups and you enjoy seeing students take responsibility for their own learning!
2. EXPLORE: PEGS Ink Think Lesson
An exploratory activity that gets your class moving, thinking, and creating! The Ink-Think activity gets students up and moving around the room and encouraging everyone to participate by allowing them to write, instead of say, their responses to share. Students always enjoy creating Picto-words at the end of lessons to highlight their understanding of the topic in a fun and creative way!
3. EXPLAIN: What are the PEGS? Lesson
Create a Foldable with related activities to use regularly throughout the year! A fun warm-up activity has students racing to fill their flags. Then lead the class in creating a foldable to represent the PEGS for their interactive notebooks. Students explore various regions of study through videos and apply their new knowledge to real world situations. Everything needed for the lesson and activities is included!
4. ELABORATE: PEGS Activity Bundle
Introduce new units with cool overviews of the region. Fun and engaging PEGS activities and handouts connect major Social Studies themes from unit to unit. Reinforce learning while hooking students on the topic! Each lesson uses fun facts that highlight the political, economic, geographic, and social factors (PEGS) that shape the region. Everything you need for 8 different lessons and activities is included!
Covers: USA, Latin America, Italy, Europe, Japan, East Asia, Africa, and India!
5. EVALUATE- Introduction to PEGS Factors End Of Unit Materials
