Kate Chopin's famous novella has been set for HSC study in NSW since 2015. This accessible guide presents a thorough analysis of how the each chapter responds to theme of Discovery set for study. It presents the novella in four sections, and contains relevant and accessibly-written explanations about Chopin's intellectual, literary, and artistic context. Each chapter is analysed in accessible language, and there are intermittent boxes which show how this high-level, insightful analysis can be phrased appropriately for essays. There are handy revision tables at the end of each section where students can fill in the information from the analysis as they revise for exams and assessments.
There is also a bonus essay written to a past HSC exam question, which uses The Tempest and Jane Campion's film The Piano as the related text.
