Shakespeare's 'problem play' The Tempest has been set for HSC study in NSW since 2015. This colloquially-written guide presents a thorough analysis of how the play responds to theme of Discovery set for study. Each scene is analysed in accessible language, and there are intermittent boxes which show how this high-level, insightful analysis can be phrased appropriately for essays. There are handy revision tables at the end of each scene where students can fill in the information from the analysis as they revise for exams and assessments.
There is also a bonus essay, written to a past HSC exam question, which uses The Tempest and a short story, 'The Man who Planted Trees' as the related text.
