This is an entire unit's worth of worksheets for Dante's Inferno. It is based on the Robert Pinsky translation, though other versions can be used, since there are few direct quotes from the text.
There are 14 worksheets total, covering all 34 cantos of the poem. There are about 5-10 questions per worksheet. Each sheet generally has both questions that check basic plot comprehension and knowledge of detail, as well as interpretive questions which require several sentences or a full paragraph to answer fully. All the worksheets appear in order, followed by the answers at the end of the document.
All of these questions are completely, 100% written by me. No copying and pasting off the internet. They are appropriate for an honors/AP/ IB level class, from 9th-12th grade. Main themes in the questions are: the ironic contrast between Dante the Pilgrim and Dante the Poet, the contrapasso (irony) of individual punishments, the role of mythology in the poem, and the cloudy nature of truth in narrative.
Save yourself many hours of tedious work and focus on the enjoyable aspects of your Inferno unit, without sacrificing the quality of the material.
