This is a teaching method used to visually see (using aread tiles) the steps used to solve quadratic equations by completing the square. It is used as an introductory model only and not intended to use for all problems. I use it for beginning easy problems, then as students understand the steps for completing the square visually, I then go into examples without the visual. I stress it is to INTRODUCE solving to increase understanding.
I start with basic trinomials, then introduce using the model for basic equations.
