We all know that it is much easier said than done. “Just ignore him”, we tell our student. If they actually attempt to ignore, which that in itself can be challenging just to get them to try it, it is often highly ineffective. Plugging ears, stomping away, staring, using hand signals, all these things actually reinforce the person who is bothering them to continue, retaliate or to try even harder to annoy them. This lesson teaches kids that ignoring, when done correctly, sends the mightiest message- I don’t like you, without getting them into trouble. We teach the correct way to ignore and why their previous techniques did not work. At the end of the lesson are 5 test pages for your student to decide if these are ways to ignore or not, a great way for you to check for comprehension!
