Description

Complex Fractions Math Lib

Students will practice simplifying complex fractions with this Math Lib Activity. Students must apply their knowledge of factoring as well as adding, subtracting, and multiplying, and dividing rational expressions. This activity was designed for a high school level Algebra 2 or Pre-Calculus class.

The answer at each station will give them a piece to a story (who, doing what, with who, where, when, etc.) This is a much more fun approach to multiple choice, and the students adore reading the story to the class. They get very excited to see which of their teachers is the "star" of the story.

EDIT ALL STORY ELEMENTS! All slides are given in an editable format so you are free to personalize the story for your students. PowerPoint is required to edit. Only story elements can be changed, not the actual problems.

My students loved using this resource as practice for complex fractions. I had them work in pairs and it took them about 75 minutes. It was fun, provided some laughter (since I was able to change the names and phrases), and was easy to administer.

My students loved this activity. We needed two full 45 minute periods to complete it, so plan accordingly if you want them to finish. I loved that you could edit it and change the teachers names. I always love these math lib activities!
