Description

These guided notes and the included homework assignment are great for introducing your students to the complex numbers.

The notes include:

--Why complex numbers?

--A list of real-world applications for complex numbers.

--Operations on complex numbers.

--Looking for a pattern with the powers of i.

The homework introduces students to the complex conjugate and requires students to prove the main properties of the complex conjugate. It also briefly introduces the modulus (magnitude) of a complex number to consider how the magnitude and complex conjugate interact.
