This product comes with two cut and paste activities to build complex sentences. Students cut out clauses, subordinating conjunctions, and punctuation and put them together to form complex sentences. One activity gives students practice when complex sentences need a comma, and the other one is when the complex sentence does not need a comma. Once they are complete, the students can keep them in their notebooks as examples of complex sentences. My middle school students do these activities to help them learn complex sentences, an important skill students need for their state writing assessment. My ESL students benefit from these activities because it gives them an opportunity to work with subordinating conjunctions as well.
