Complex sentences can be very challenging to teach- and frustrating to learn! I have used this activity with upper elementary to middle school students to make complex sentences fun!
Students love pretending to be a "bratty" child ("I will not do the dishes unless I can watch TV when I am done!") or sharing their dreams for the future ("I can't be a famous musician unless I practice music every day."). Four worksheets are included.
This activity is built as an expressive activity, scaffolding students' ability to construct their own complex sentences. However, it also builds comprehension, as students discuss each other's sentences and perfect their own. Use it as a worksheet, or laminate for repeated use.
