This resource provides students with practice for composing complex sentences with the subordinating conjunctions while, rather than, unless, and after. There is a brief notes section for each subordinating conjunction providing a definition and two examples sentences: 1 DC,IC and 1 ICDC. The guided practice has students compose two complex sentences with the provided subordinating conjunction. The independent practice requires students to compose an original paragraph with two complex sentences for each of the subordinating conjunctions taught. In addition, the lesson includes an answer key that can serve as an exemplar.
