I created this Compli-Mat Kindness Activity to teach my students how to give a good compliment, and to spread the love in my classroom on Valentine's Day! This works for anytime of the year when you need to focus on kindness and thoughtfulness!
I first give a minilesson on compliments and how to give a good compliment. In this resource, I've included suggestions for kindness read alouds to hook the students' attention. Once I read and discuss the book, we have a discussion on how we can be kind in the classroom, and I work to turn the conversation to compliments. Then, I introduce the anchor chart I use as a visual for the students. I have three different versions of the anchor chart in the download for you to use too!
Then, I have three Compli-Mat printables you can use. Print them out for each student, and use the SCOOT method to have each student write a truthful, specific, and positive compliment on everyone's mats!
