This race-themed Composer and Time Period folder game will reinforce matching the composers with their time periods in a fun way for your students. A color version as well as a black and white version of the game board is included for you. Print it out on card stock and laminate (along with the “Music is My Life” cards) and you will be pretty much set! Also included in this game set is a pdf file for a spinner (you would just need a brad to fasten it together) and dice (some tape to tape it together). You could also choose to use a real die (just need one). You will need some sort of small "tokens" for your students to move around the game board. I'm using little, tiny, mini erasers I purchased from the dollar store.
The 24 “Music is My Life” cards (punch card size) ask students to match the composer with the correct time period and vice versa, name a composer from a specific time period AND match songs to a composer. Most cards give students multiple choices (three) for the correct answer.
The game addresses the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern Periods and the following composers: Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Copland, Joplin, and Stravinsky and is correlated to go along with my Composer Time Period Workstations Unit.
