The “Composer of the Week” will list an important artist or composer for each week of school. This outline will consist of thirty-seven composers. For each week, one or more pieces to cover will be listed. These activities will take place in the beginning of class during normal meeting times. Composers will be discussed in no particular order, allowing students to experience many different genres without becoming stagnant.
I believe it is important for students to receive a well-rounded music education, which includes exposing them to things they may not have heard before. These activities will include composers and music from different genres and countries. Many pieces can be related to other subjects, such as history and geography.
