This book introduces the lives and works of famous composers. The information highlights each composer including interesting facts and stories that students will enjoy reading and knowing. “Composers of Note” gives good basic instruction to the lives, compositions and times frames of the predominant composers during the different periods. It will begin with the Baroque Period continuing through to the present Contemporary Period. Because of the vastness of the subject matter a careful selection of composers will represent each time period. Short biographies of these composers and some of their works are presented. After each composer or time period, there are activities, which should promote further thinking and discussion. Many of these activities are interchangeable with different questions. “Composers of Note” is easily adaptable to the individual teacher’s instructional needs. It may be used both by the music specialist or the classroom teacher.
